Ballet at Frame Dance is about the child’s sense of personal development and mastery of movement. Dancers learn the tradition of ballet terminology and class structure as they practice positions, combinations, and musicality while building strength, balance, and the joy of moving independently and as a group. REGISTER HERE.

Adult Tap Dance

 In our beginner tap classes dancers learn to use their feet as rhythmic instruments capable of lively and sophisticated movement. Make friends, have a blast, get a workout, learn an art, and ignite your inner Gene Kelley!

Dress Code: Clothes that are comfortable to move in. Long hair pulled back. No loose, dangly jewelry. Tap shoes.

Adult Tap Dance returns soon as a drop-in/class card class.


Child & Teen Modern Dance Classes

Child & Teen Modern Dance Classes

Roll! Jump! Swing and fall to the floor! These dynamic movements and more happen in our Modern Dance classes. Students are introduced to modern dance techniques while collaborating with the instructor and classmates to innovate ways of moving their body through space. Students do not need special shoes for this class—we dance with our bare feet! REGISTER HERE. This class is a big benefit for actors and athletes as well.

As the first classes that students take on their own, Frame Dance classes are designed to be fun and instructive, teaching students to understand and use their bodies and their space. Students learn to communicate with respect, to develop artistically as individuals and as an ensemble – finding, articulating, and combining ideas and actions.

MultiGen Ensemble

MultiGen Ensemble

The heartbeat of Frame Dance, the MultiGen Framers Ensemble is based in modern dance technique and improvisation, and welcomes beginners through advanced students looking for multigenerational dance. Families and individuals are encouraged to take this class as a chance to play, move, and create together. Performance opportunities are available to ensemble members. Artistic Director Lydia Hance works with the MultiGen Framers to incubate and build ideas for performance and community engagement. Become a part of the process!

MultiGen Ensemble meets at the studio with occasional outdoor field trips to explore dance in different environments and create performance works.

Dress Code: Clothes that are comfortable and safe to move in, long hair pulled back, no loose, dangly jewelry, weather-appropriate clothing for outdoor classes

Ages: All Ages, recommended for adults and families with children ages 6+ years

Class begins with a sumptuous, flowing warm up and moves into aesthetic combinations with space for improv and creative choice-making. Depth of movement and openness of spirit guide this class for adults who are exploring the art of modern dance.

Frame Dance classes offer children movement training, artful decision-making, and many opportunities to share, collaborate, and reflect on the work they create.

Ages: 2 years and up

A Frame Dance teacher – a dance professional trained in our mission and values – comes to your home to provide personalized dance classes. Private lessons are offered to one student or family, semi-private to 2-3 families. Pods are for 4-10 dancers, depending on age and curriculum. Private and pod classes are 45-90 minutes minutes in length based on dancer’s age and class goals. Schedule depends on teacher availability.
